While there are many types of shoes out there, here is just a small list of some that will be covered here:
• High heels ( 2" heels and up )
• Kitten heels ( 1.5" to 2" )
• Wedges ( exactly as it sounds, basically a sandal with a heel, typically solid sole from toe to heel in the shape of a wedge )
• Mules ( heels or slippers without anything around the back of the ankle or heel of the foot )
• Slingbacks ( heels with a strap around the back of the ankle )
• Platforms ( shoes with a very thick sole and heel )
• Stilettos ( typically high spiked heels )
• Stripper shoes ( what you would find in a strip club, min. 6" heel with platform, for the naughty girl in all of us )
• Novelty ( exactly what it says, fun shoes )
• Sitting shoes ( gorgeous shoes, but too uncomfortable to stand or walk )
• Boots ( shoe with taller more full upper coverage )
Again, there are others, possibly to be added as time goes on.
Architecture of a shoe is very important. As in life, making the correct statement about your look, fit, and having a proper support structure make all the difference in how we walk through our lives. "Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions." ~CoCo Chanel
Shoes are more than an accessory! They can make ~OR~ break your entire look, not to mention, your feet! Respect your shoes. If you don't love them, leave them on the shelf. If you won't wear them, you don't need them. Each pair should have a purpose, even if it is "frivolous" (very few of this type are needed!). Each pair should have a clear use (preferably before purchasing!).
Now that "mode of conduct" has been covered, cherish thy shoe! Appreciate a shoes' beauty and form. Every shoe is different, for the purpose of this site we are looking at the stiletto or high heel. Not to take away from flats, the casual shoe, sneakers, and the like as they all have a purpose. More to honor those that take feet to a higher level.
